"My passion is helping individuals, couples, and families find a greater sense of connection."

- Monica Arroyo, LCSW- Weston, FL

On a personal note…

Monica Arroyo PsychotherapistI am originally from South America; born and raised in Lima, Peru. My family relocated to New York City in the 1990’s due to the increase in violence and uncertainty that the country was experiencing. We were faced with many of the issues that new immigrant families have to face: learning a new language, a new culture and having to start all over again. I think this is where my sense of hopefulness and resiliency comes from. I believe that this life experience made me a much more compassionate and understanding person and therapist.

I believe that our journey is filled with many unimaginable turns and twists. The key is to understand just how to deal with every single turn without losing our path. I know this first hand, not only from having relocated from a different country into the United States but also from having lived in different states from New York to New Jersey and finally Florida where I have settled with my family and children.

When I am not in the office, you will find me sharing my time with my friends and family. I believe that laughter is the best medicine and that sharing it with others is the most powerful gift that we have. I utilize a great deal of mindfulness in my daily life from meditations to Yoga practice. I believe that this has been an important way to keep me grounded and grateful for the life we have.

I am fully bilingual and I able to conduct sessions in both English and Spanish. I believe that there is a powerful experience in being able to share your feelings and thoughts in your native language. My Hispanic roots helps me to understand the importance of traditions, culture and values as I work with the Latin population. I am also quite familiar with the American way of life, their tradition, culture and values. I feel that I am able to bridge the gap between generations as many of my first generation families struggle to understand their adolescents that are being raised with a different cultural norm.

Thank you so much for reading my about me page, I hope that by reading about who I am as a therapist and as a person, that It will help you to decide whether we are a good fit to work together. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to give me a call at (954)650-3561.
